FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I visit the dentist?

Most patients should visit the dentist every six months for a professional cleaning and exam. Regular visits at our Fort Worth office help prevent cavities, detect gum disease early, and keep small concerns from becoming bigger problems. If you have ongoing dental issues, we may recommend more frequent visits to protect your smile.

What should I expect during my first dental visit?

Your first visit includes a comprehensive dental exam, digital X-rays (if needed), and a conversation about your goals and concerns. We take time to understand your health history and explain everything clearly, so you feel confident about your care. Our goal is simple: help you feel comfortable and informed from day one.

Do you accept new patients?

Yes. Brown Family Dentistry is always welcoming new patients in Fort Worth and the surrounding communities. Whether you’re new to the area or simply looking for a dental home, we’re excited to care for you and your family.

What dental insurance plans do you accept?

We work with many major dental insurance providers and are happy to help you maximize your benefits. Our team verifies your coverage, files claims on your behalf, and clearly explains your options so there are no surprises.

If you do not have dental insurance, we offer the Brown Family Dentistry Dental Care Plan. This private membership plan is designed specifically for patients without dental insurance and provides an affordable way to maintain quality dental care. Please note, this is not traditional insurance but a dental savings program created exclusively for our uninsured patients. It cannot
be used in conjunction with traditional dental insurance.

Our Dental Care Plan includes:

  • Two dental cleanings per year
  • Two annual exams per year
  • Necessary X-rays
  • Two fluoride treatments per year
  • Two oral cancer screenings per year
  • A discount on most additional dental treatments (excluding Invisalign® and Clear Correct)

If you have questions about your insurance or our membership plan, our team is always happy to walk you through your options and help you choose what works best for you and your family.

What if I don’t have dental insurance?

You do not need insurance to receive quality dental care. We offer flexible payment options and financing solutions to make treatment affordable. Our team will review costs with you in advance and help you plan care comfortably within your budget.

How long does a routine dental exam and cleaning take?

A routine dental cleaning and exam typically takes about 45 to 60 minutes. This gives us time to thoroughly clean your teeth, evaluate your oral health, and answer any questions you may have.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Scheduling is easy. Simply call our Fort Worth office or request an appointment through our website. Our friendly team will help you find a convenient time that fits your schedule.

Do you offer emergency dental care?

Yes. If you are experiencing tooth pain, a broken tooth, swelling, or another dental emergency, contact us right away. We do our best to provide same-day or prompt emergency dental care in Fort Worth whenever possible.

What cosmetic dental services do you offer?

We offer a variety of cosmetic dentistry services designed to enhance your smile, including professional teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, cosmetic bonding, and tooth-colored restorations. Whether you want to brighten your smile or correct chips, gaps, or discoloration, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan to help you feel confident.

Am I a good candidate for Invisalign®, and how long does treatment take?

Many teens and adults with mild to moderate alignment concerns are good candidates for Invisalign clear aligners. Invisalign gently straightens teeth using custom, removable trays that are nearly invisible. Treatment time varies, but most patients complete treatment within 12 to 18 months. During your consultation, we will determine if Invisalign is right for you.

What are dental implants, and how long do they last?

Dental implants are permanent tooth replacements that function like natural teeth. An implant is placed in the jawbone to support a crown, bridge, or denture. With proper home care and regular dental visits, dental implants can last for decades and often a lifetime.

What’s the difference between dentures and implant-supported dentures?

Traditional dentures rest on the gums and are removable. Implant-supported dentures are secured to dental implants placed in the jaw, offering greater stability, comfort, and chewing strength. Implant-supported options also help preserve bone health over time.

What are the signs of gum disease?

Common signs of gum disease include red or swollen gums, bleeding when brushing or flossing, persistent bad breath, gum recession, or loose teeth. If you notice any of these symptoms, schedule an evaluation as soon as possible. Early treatment can prevent more serious complications.

What if I’m nervous about visiting the dentist?

You are not alone. Many patients feel anxious about dental visits. At Brown Family Dentistry, we focus on gentle care, clear communication, and a calm environment. If you have dental anxiety, let us know. We’ll take extra time to ensure you feel comfortable throughout your appointment.

How can I maintain good oral health between dental visits?

Maintaining good oral health starts at home. Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, floss every day, and limit sugary snacks and drinks. Staying consistent with home care and routine dental checkups is the best way to protect your smile long term.
